Mimi has always been driven by a desire to support underprivileged communities and empower individuals through education and mentorship. Witnessing the challenges faced by those with limited access to resources, she was inspired to found Haven for Divine Restoration (HFDR), an organization dedicated to bridging the socioeconomic gap and providing the tools needed for success in school, career, and life. Mimi shared this vision with her friends, Emily and Rejoice, who joined her in bringing it to life. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and a Master’s in Organizational Leadership (with a focus on management) from the University of Northwestern, St. Paul. She is also a Project and Change Management Consultant. Mimi resides in Aurora, IL, and enjoys spending quality time with her family and loved ones.
Dr. David Philemon
Leadership and Mental Health Advisor
Dr. David Philemon is a compassionate counselor and advisor with decades of experience in guiding individuals towards personal and professional growth. Since 1997, he has been dedicated to helping people realize their potential and overcome challenges. As the founder and President of Church on Fire International, and David Philemon Ministries International, Dr. Philemon brings a wealth of leadership expertise and counseling skills. His focus on mental health guidance and leadership development will be instrumental in providing invaluable support to those served by Haven for Divine Restoration.
Emily Ohakwe, M.B.A.
Vice President
Emily Ohakwe is the Director of Business Development at BA Sciences. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and a Master of Business Administration from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota, Emily brings a unique blend of scientific knowledge and business acumen to her role. Her dedication to helping those in need extends beyond the boardroom, as she aspires to utilize her skills and experience to make a meaningful impact in her community. Emily’s proficiency in fostering relationships and her strategic approach to business development and her commitment to serving others will undoubtedly enhance the organization’s efforts to empower and support individuals in need. Emily resides with her family in Blaine, Minnesota, where she finds fulfillment in spending quality time with her loved ones.
Rejoice Tarfa, M.A.

Rejoice’s journey from Nigeria to Minnesota has given her a deep understanding of the challenges faced by underserved communities. With a passion for empowering individuals, she is committed to providing mentorship and guidance to help people build confidence and unlock their potential. Rejoice holds a degree in Accounting and a master’s in Organizational Leadership, specializing in Strategic Management. As a seasoned financial services professional and Vice President in Risk and Control, she uses her expertise to advocate for marginalized communities, helping individuals gain the skills and support needed to be more competitive in school, career, and life. She resides in Plymouth, Minnesota, and enjoys reading, traveling, and spending quality time with her family.
Nana Saratu Gara
Director, African Outreach
Nana Saratu Gara brings a wealth of experience in Business Management, Finance, and Logistics to our team and received a degree in Business Management from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cites. With a strong background in these areas, Nana is dedicated to fostering positive and mutually beneficial relationships, both professionally and personally. Known for her proactive approach, she thrives on challenges and consistently delivers results on time. Currently residing in Abuja, Nigeria, Nana is a devoted wife and mother while also managing a small logistics group. Her commitment to balancing family responsibilities with professional endeavors reflects her dedication and resourcefulness. Nana’s role at Haven for Divine Restoration focuses on developing and managing the African outreach programs. Her passion for empowering communities and her expertise in logistics make her an invaluable asset to our mission.
